In Bengali there is a word called “Biyer Phool”, that literally means “Wedding flowers”,but has some metaphorical meaning to it.We call it “Biyer phool phuteche”(the wedding flower has bloom), that refers to the period when a girl is about to get married or is going to be a bride soon.
Before her marriage, a girl often experiences a mix of emotions ranging from excitement and anticipation to nostalgia and perhaps a bit of apprehension. She may dream about her future, imagining the life she will build with her partner. Amidst the excitement, she may also feel nostalgic about leaving her parents’ house, reminiscing about the memories she has cherished there and the bond she shares with her family. This period can be a time of reflection, gratitude, and anticipation for the new chapter ahead.
